Hi — I’m Leah,
and I read too much.

Across every genre, usually four books going at once and not one of them finished. This is where I keep track of what I’m reading, and every so often write a little about it.

I don’t really have a lane. In a single month I’ll go from a doorstop of a family saga to a crime novel I finish in two sittings to a science book I only half understand and love anyway. If someone I trust tells me I have to read something, I have almost no ability to say no.

So that’s what this is: a small, quiet place for a habit that got out of hand a long time ago. Mostly it’s the books. Sometimes it’s whatever they leave me chewing on afterward, which is where the occasional bit of writing comes from.

What I keep returning to

Fiction

Big family sagas, crime I read too fast, historical fiction, literary novels, and enough fantasy and sci-fi to keep me honest. Mostly I’m in it for a good voice.

Nonfiction

Memoir and biography, history, a lot of science I take on faith, plus travel, art, and the odd political book I pretend makes me a better person.

The reading life

Library holds stacked three deep, cracked paperback spines, pencil in the margins, and whatever I turn up in the secondhand shop’s dollar cart.

Beyond the page

Films, music, long walks, and dinners that run late. Usually the reason three more books end up on the pile.
